Living Jesus Is Greater: Born Again

Living Jesus Is Greater: Born Again

Most likely, just being in the room puts you at least interested in the idea of being
born again. So there is a lot at stake in understanding the concept. And sad, it has
become a confusing or at least misunderstood idea.
• According to a 2014 study by the Pew Research Center, 70.6% of the adult population
identified themselves as Christians,
• In 2020, Christians made up 64% of the U.S. population (including children) while “nones”
accounted for 30% and other religious groups 6%.
• In 1962 it was 93%
With these numbers, you would think our world would be a much kinder, loving place since
Jesus said that you would know who my disciples are by how they love. So I think the term
“born again” has lost its meaning. Instead, it becomes a blanket term for every person who
identifies with the Christian church. Our tension this morning is, do you get it? Have you been
reborn? Our friend Nicodemus didn’t get it, and he was the cream of the crop. Jesus didn’t want
us to be confused, and He wanted us to have life. John puts it this way: 1 John 5:13 I write
these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you
have eternal life.
